In times of stress, our bodys response can cause us to release adrenaline, otherwise known as The Fight or Flight Hormone. Who Is At Risk

Aging is a large risk factor for new eye floaters and flashes. People who are very nearsighted, or have high myopic prescriptions, are at greater risk of experiencing eye floaters or flashes at a young age and can be at greater risk for a retinal detachment or tear. We developed the Vitreous Floaters Symptom Questionnaire to evaluate symptoms associated with vitreous floaters. In this study, we defined symptomatic vitreous floaters as vitreous floaters that are noticed in daily life and make visual discomfort. In contrast, vitreous floaters that are noticed only in a bright environment and do not make visual discomfort were considered nonsymptomatic and excluded from the study group. Those with no floaters or nonsymptomatic floaters consisted the control group. For those with symptomatic vitreous floaters, we further investigated the degree of associated discomfort, onset, frequency, changes, and number and characteristics of vitreous floaters and frequency of associated photopsia. The degree of perceived discomfort was evaluated into three grades: mild, moderate, and severe. When patients noticed vitreous floaters in daily life, however, accompanied discomfort is minimal, it was graded mild. If vitreous floater-associated disturbance is severe enough that patients feel that their vision is getting worse, it was graded severe. We adopted a figure depicting serial groups of vitreous floaters from previous literature and investigated number and shapes of vitreous floaters that patient perceived .

My husband is allergic to peanut butter. One day, he was working on some financial stuff.

He noticed that he started having trouble reading the numbers.

When he looked at a series of numbers , he could only make out the 1 and 2 and 5 and 6 when looking directly at the number.

His vision was significantly impaired directly at the normal focus level of his eye. Of course, he freaked out.

He later discovered that the kids had made themselves peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and used the same knife. Inadvertently, they had put peanut butter in the jelly jar.
