Stress has everything to do with your overall health! Stressor our reaction to itis as powerful as food is, in achieving a high-vibration life or a low-vibration life. We dont always get a say in the stressful situations that come along, but our reactions to them are largely up to us.

Im going to share some major principles that have helped me live a life of happiness, and relative peace even though Im a single mom, I travel a lot for work, and I have what by any standards would be called a high-stress job.

In this article:

These concepts Im going to share have been hard-won for me.

A few years ago, I had a terrible professional experience. I felt deeply wronged by another company whose actions inflicted tremendous harm on me and my business.

The damage was both emotional and financial. I could have spent many months, or even years, of my life pursuing a conflict that would have vindicated me and made me rich. Or, I could settle and end the dispute with peace, light, and forgiveness.

I chose the latter. And this big choice led me to some clarity about all the smaller, daily choices that help change my mindset, my thought patterns, and my overall happiness.

How To Lower Stress By Seeing No Value In It

One of the quickest ways to stop being stressed is to simply see no value in it, other than how it alerts you to opportunities for improvement in your life, and to see a great deal of value of being calm and relaxed, instead.

Heres why: when your mind appreciates that being stressed is of no value to you, your mind will be far more cooperative letting go of stressful, negative thoughts that make you feel stressed in the first place.

For this reason, make sure you dont see any value in being stressed, like thinking that stress somehow energizes and motivates you to get things done, or thinking that stress is normal and therefore good for you.

After all, stress ultimately leaves you feeling exhuausted, and makes it harder for you to think clearly, so it clearly doesnt help you get more things done. Also, even if stress is completely normal, it still isnt any good for you, since it has a negative effect on your well being.

The only helplful thing stress does is it alerts you that there are opportunties for improvement in your life, and that its in your best interest to improve your thinking and situation in some way to eliminate the stress. Other than this, the stress is of no value to you whatsoever.

Once this is completely clear to you, your mind will naturally help you replace stressful, negative thinking with more positive ways of thinking that make you feel more calm and relaxed and help you enjoy greater peace of mind.

Tense And Relax Your Muscles

One of Dr. Saltzs favorite de-stressing techniques actually involve tensing your muscles, holding them in that tense position for 5 to 10 seconds and then releasing, creating a near instant feeling of relaxation. This practice reduces stress through the mind-body connectionwhen we’re feeling very stressed, we tense up our bodies, says Dr. Saltz. And when we tense up our bodies, it reinforces the message to your mind to be stressed. It’s a signal of physiological arousal. Doing what you can to relax your body helps relax your mind.

What Causes Mental Stress

5 Natural Hacks to Overcome Stress Naturally

Its origin is triggered by a signal from outside stimuli a piece of information of an objective or subjective nature, or both at once. The mental stress develops very slowly at the beginning. We cannot observe its development because of our lack of understanding of mental energy.

The information we receive from the outside , creates a feeling that evolves into a negative emotion . For example, the inability to understand or accept other peoples point of view can cause mental stress.

My Personal Experience with Mental Stress

In my late twenties, I struggled consistently with mental stress. I was happy to work in a global corporation and also excited to be responsible for many projects at once. Despite the work load I had, I was a victim of mobbing because of my keen engagement towards my tasks. I was physically and mentally exhausted because of the many complex purchase orders I had to place for the projects assigned to me. On top of that, there were certain people in the organization giving me hard time because of my desire to strive to improve.

There was an immediate disharmony between me and these people that generated a feeling of intolerance and non-acceptance. This grew into feelings of disappointment and frustration, which ended up creating emotion of anger and anxiety over not performing well or losing my job.

Keep Stress Under Control

Here are some things that can help keep stress under control:

  • Take a stand against overscheduling. If you’re feeling stretched, consider cutting out an activity or two, choosing just the ones that are most important to you.

  • Be realistic. Don’t try to be perfect no one is. Don’t put unnecessary pressure on yourself. If you need help with something like schoolwork or dealing with a loss, ask for it.

  • Get a good night’s sleep. Getting enough sleep helps keep your body and mind in top shape, making you better equipped to deal with any negative stressors. Because the biological “sleep clock” shifts during adolescence, many teens prefer staying up a little later at night and sleeping a little later in the morning. But if you stay up late and still need to get up early for school, you may not get all the hours of sleep you need.

  • Learn to relax. The body’s natural antidote to stress is called the relaxation response. It’s the opposite of stress, and is a feeling of well-being and calm. You can activate the relaxation response simply by relaxing. Learn and practice easy breathing exercises, then use them when you’re caught up in stressful situations.

You can do things to handle the stress that comes along with any new challenge, good or bad. Stress-management skills work best when they’re practiced ahead of time, not just when the pressure’s on. Knowing how to “de-stress” and calm yourself can help you get through challenging circumstances.

Take Time To Fill Your Tank

Meditation, yoga, quiet time, exercise, breaks, breathing, quality sleep, good nutrition, and hydrationjust to name a feware all scientifically proven ways to reduce our internal stress and better manage our energy. On top of good self-care habits, taking the time to do whatever it is that fills your individual tank is crucial to feeling less overwhelmed with work anxiety. How To Deal With Stress Peacefully

How to Cope with Stress & Busy Workloads Naturally

One of the biggest reasons so many people struggle with stress is that they think of stress as being some sort of a dangerous enemy. For example, if youre focused on how to fight stress, youre approaching stress as if its some sort of monster to beat.

Guess what? Feeling like you regularly have to fight an evil enemy is extremely stressful. So it makes no sense to waste any time learning how to combat stress, because putting yourself in battle mode like this will keep you stressed.

On the other hand, it also doesnt make any sense to learn how to cope with stress, the way many people do, because if youre using coping with stress techniques, youre just living with stress rather than getting rid of it. In this way, you also remain feeling stressed.

So what is the best way to deal with stress?

Its very simple: see the feeling of stress as being like a ringing fire alarm. Just like a ringing fire alarm alerts you that you can improve your situation in some way, the feeling of stress also alerts you that you can improve your situation in some way, like by improving your thinking, actions, or environment.

So it clearly doesnt make any sense to fight stress or cope with it, just like it doesnt make any sense to fight a ringing fire alarm or put up with its shrill ringing without doing anything.

Stress Management Mindfulness Training For Stress Relief

This technique has existed and been treating stress for millennia but has only been explained scientifically in the last twenty years.

Mindfulness produces positive effects on psychological well-being that extend beyond the time the individual is practicing it. Over the last three decades, mindfulness practices have been increasingly incorporated into programs, to take advantage of these benefits. A large body of research has established the effectiveness of these mindfulness-based interventions in reducing symptoms of a number of disorders, including anxiety, depression, substance abuse, eating disorders and chronic pain, as well as improving well-being and quality of life. Mindfulness involves the development of awareness of present-moment experience with a compassionate, non-judgmental stance. It has been suggested that this process is associated with a perceptual shift, in which ones thoughts and feelings are recognised as events occurring in the broader field of awareness
