Despite our plans not going as planned, he continues to work on bringing us closer to him. In all his wisdom, the Lord sees things that we cannot . So we need to submit out finite ideologies and submit to His infinite understanding.

Meditate On The Word Of God

The Bible, in fact, is filled with incredible promises from God. Meditating on these words of assurance can dispel our worry, doubt, fear, and stress. Here are just a few examples of the Bible’s stress relieving verses:

2 Peter 1:3His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Matthew 11:28-30Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light.” John 14:27“I am leaving you with a gift–peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn’t like the peace the world gives. Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthymeditate on these things.

When negative experiences and situations are coming at you, and when it seems overwhelming, then stop, take a deep breath and simply take time to focus on something lovely and good. Overcoming stress starts with the ability to control our thoughts. We need to focus on the positive, uplifting things of God.

Another effective way to overcome our fears is by using the power of Gods name. When we say, God will help me, it gives us hope and courage. We know Hell make a way when there seems to be no way.

Psalm 118:6 tells us,

The Lord is on my side I will not fear. What can man do to me? .

3: Overcome fear by trusting Gods timing

When were feeling anxious about something or someone, it can be easy to focus on that thing and become overwhelmed. But if we take our eyes off the circumstance and put them on God, well soon find peace and rest in Him.

Psalm 37:7, tells us,

Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him. .

So when you feel overwhelmed with your fears, trust that God will work everything out in His perfect timing.

4: Overcome fear by setting realistic expectations

If you expect too much of yourself, others, and your circumstances, youll always be disappointed. And when we set unrealistic expectations for ourselves and the people around us, we tend to get anxious about it.

Anxiety symptoms vary from person to person however, the body reacts in a very specific way to anxiety. When you feel anxious, your body goes on high alert, activating your fight or flight responses. As a result, some common symptoms of anxiety according to Healthline.com include: nervousness, restlessness, or being tense, feelings of danger, panic, or dread, rapid heart rate, rapid breathing, or hyperventilation, increased or heavy sweating, trembling or muscle twitching, weakness and lethargy, difficulty focusing or thinking clearly about anything other than the thing youre worried about, insomnia, digestive or gastrointestinal problems, such as gas, constipation, or diarrhea, a strong desire to avoid the things that trigger your anxiety, obsessions about certain ideas, a sign of obsessive-compulsive disorder , performing certain behaviors over and over again, anxiety surrounding a particular life event or experience that has occurred in the past, especially indicative of post-traumatic stress disorder .

Belief in God, according to the bible, is about complete trust and faith – immersing yourself in God’s love and dedicating yourself to Him is the path to a content and fear free life. Ultimately, having faith in God is one way of having faith in yourself. Self Care Is Gods Care

Anxiety crops up when we least expect it. It happens when weve put too much on our plates. When we pile on the hustle, the busy, the doing, the too much, the too many yeses. Our body doesnt know any other way but to say no. And our bodies shut down in ways we dont expect. God didnt design us to hustle 24-7. He designed us to Be Still and Know. To Be still means to rest in Gods presence. This verse wasnt written in the context of taking a spa day. It was written in the context of war. The meaning of the Psalm means to: stop, cease striving and stop fighting. It means to acknowledge who our God is and be in awe of him. Daily we should learn to be still before our Lord. It keeps the world from spinning off its axis within our minds. That means to become un-busy, to not hustle. We are to prioritize our time with Him and listen to what our bodies need. Rest, exercise, a good bedtime routine, getting eight hours of sleep, and consume healing foods. This is how we war against the battle of anxiety.

Stressful Situations 7 Biblical Responses

The Bible shares one example after another of what it means to fear God not man during times of opposition. Lets take a closer look at seven common stresses most of us face at some point in life and see how Nehemiah walked through them.

1. MockeryHow often do we quit when others make fun of us? How often do we dwell on their words instead of Gods?

The situation: When Nehemiah revealed the purpose for his visit to Jerusalem, some of the men laughed and made fun of him, saying, What are you doing? Are you turning against the king? They openly mocked him and the idea of rebuilding the wall.

Response: But I answered them, The God of heaven will give us success. We, his servants, will start rebuilding, but you have no share claim, or memorial in Jerusalem.

Instead of focusing on the mockery, Nehemiah focused on God. He did not get defensive, but rather he stated the facts and went on with his work.

Our God is a God of love. To fear Him is to follow His command to love others.

2. Physical ThreatHow often do we become intimidated by someone or something stronger than us? Do we forget that God fights for us?

Response: Dont be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and powerful. Fight for your brothers, your sons and daughters, your wives, and your homes.-Neh 4:14

Nehemiah reminds us to fear God, not men, because God is the one in control.

Seven Ways Christians Should Deal With Stress And Anxiety

Ive always considered myself to be a person who handles stress pretty well. I like to be busy. I enjoy taking risks. I never thought anxiety was my problem.

Then, a little less than a year ago, I hit a wall. I could never seem to get enough sleep. Small tasks I had normally done with little thought or stress were suddenly accompanied with an almost crippling anxiety.

One day as I was driving, it suddenly felt as though my heart was malfunctioning. That was my first panic attack. It was also the moment I realized I could no longer ignore the stress and anxiety that was slowly taking over my life.

Something had to change.

After that day, I began seeking counsel. I saw a doctor. I began making changes. By Gods grace, I am now no longer on any medication, the panic attacks are gone and my anxiety is at an all-time low. I still have days that are harder than others, but those days are increasingly few and far between.

I continue to meet many people who find themselves in a similar place to where I was just a year ago. Those conversations have confirmed that we the Church have a long way to go when it comes to addressing issues of mental health. Many arent sure how to understand or respond to their struggle as Christians.

So to those who find themselves in that place right now, here are seven ways to deal with anxiety and stress:

1. Admit Theres a Problem

Had I owned up to the problem sooner, I could have spared both myself and my family a lot of pain.

Gods commands are not there to suck out the fun in our lives or control us. It is to guide us towards the best quality of life. When we achieve this, trouble and distress would seem puny compared to what God can do.

The good news is that God is on our side. He is mighty, powerful, extraordinary, all-knowing, and everything is His. If God is on our side, what can stand against us?
