Embrace The Adrenaline And Treat It As Positive
Fortunately, there is evidence that some level of stress is actually helpful, and can improve performanceprovided you believe that this is the case.
Elite athletes, for example, often believe that adrenaline, one of the main stress hormones, is helpful in improving performance. It is, after all, the flight or fight hormone, so you can harness it to help you to fight. Changing your mindset to embrace adrenaline can be a good start to changing how you view stress, especially if you have taken steps to reduce and avoid it more generally.

Asking For Help And Allow Help
Youd be amazed at how many people are willing to help. Often, we are the problem that is disallowing help from happening through our limited thinking. We think they will say no, and so we dont ask.
Just give it a try. Ask for help, and be prepared to be amazed at the generosity that others are willing to provide.
When my husband was out of town for a week, I asked friends for their help and people willingly came to help me watch Ryan, so I could have some midweek breaks. One friend -who works as a nanny- even agreed at a discount, to sleep over one night and take the middle-of-the-night-shift for Ryan. This made my life much easier and more manageable.
Also through asking, my mother-in-law agreed to come watch the baby twice a week, so I could have focused and uninterrupted creative time. I am so thankful.
People are amazing. Just ask, and be open to receiving what others are willing to provide. You never know what will happen. Just think, whats the worst thing that can happen? They say no. Not a big deal.

It can take some time to combat self-doubt, catastrophic predictions, and other problematic thoughts when your brain seems to refuse to delegate tasks that are helpful and instead focuses on the bad. However, there are some ways.
- When they come, distract yourself. Whether its looking at your phone, taking a few deep breaths, exercising, immediately find a way to distract yourself and make it a habit.
- Usually, these thoughts are worries. Are they valid worries? If so, think of ways to control them. Some people become control freaks of their own mind, separating the helpful from the unhelpful, and thats a good thing.
- Substitute that thought for something better. Even if it comes back, keep substituting.
- Seek help from a therapist. When people have positive things happening, but they worry constantly, they may have other mental health problems they are unaware of. Seeking help from a therapist may be your best bet to stop those thoughts.
How Can I Worry Less And Enjoy Life More
Learning to stop wasting your time ruminating over thoughts you can’t control is the first step. Using mindfulness to stop the worrying conversations in your head is a good first step. If you doubt your ability to solve a problem, find ways to improve it. With that said, how can you enjoy your life more? Here are a few ways.
- Find something that makes you happy. A new hobby could be needed.
- Exercise and eat right. Improving your health can make you enjoy your life.
- Learn to enjoy every day and realize that you’re lucky to be here right now.

It’s often hard not to care about things you can’t control-whether your partner will do well on a work presentation, what the weather will be like for our flight, and so on. The problem is that caring about things you can’t control takes your time, zaps your energy, and keeps you from working on the things you can control. To reduce your stress and start leading a happier life, you need to let go and stop caring about those things you can’t control. It might be easier said than done, but all you need are the right tools. We’ll discuss these later in the article.
Tip : Interrupt The Worry Cycle
If you worry excessively, it can seem like negative thoughts are running through your head on endless repeat. You may feel like youre spiraling out of control, going crazy, or about to burn out under the weight of all this anxiety. But there are steps you can take right now to interrupt all those anxious thoughts and give yourself a time out from relentless worrying.
Get up and get moving. Exercise is a natural and effective anti-anxiety treatment because it releases endorphins which relieve tension and stress, boost energy, and enhance your sense of well-being. Take a yoga or tai chi class. By focusing your mind on your movements and breathing, practicing yoga or tai chi keeps your attention on the present, helping to clear your mind and lead to a relaxed state.
Practice progressive muscle relaxation. This can help you break the endless loop of worrying by focusing your mind on your body instead of your thoughts. By alternately tensing and then releasing different muscle groups in your body, you release muscle tension in your body. And as your body relaxes, your mind will follow.

If you’re not sure what’s causing your stress, keep a diary and make a note of stressful episodes for two-to-four weeks. Then review it to spot the triggers.

- a stress rating
You can use the diary to:
- work out what triggers your stress
- work out how you operate under pressure
- develop better coping mechanisms

- Practice stress relievers like meditation to calm you down.
- Write down all your worries you spend time ruminating on. Change your thoughts into words on a paper, and it can help you let them go.
- Have an herbal tea or take a bath.
- If you cant sleep, get up and do something to make you feel calm. Then, try to go to bed. You could spend that extra energy into more productive actions, like writing, but make sure you do something that makes you tired.
