How To Reduce Chest Pain From Stress

What Are Anxiety Attacks

Is anxiety chest pain different from regular chest pain? – Dr. Sanjay Panicker

Anxiety attacks, also called panic attacks, occur when you experience intense emotions and fear that often occurs at random times and without any warning. The symptoms can last up to an hour, but it varies depending on the individual.

Usually, these attacks have specific triggers such as spiders, heights, elevators, or anything that the person may be afraid of. Some anxiety attacks are minor while others can affect a persons quality of life.

When a person suffers from a panic attack, they usually spend a significant amount of time worrying about recurrent attacks. This could lead to unreasonable lifestyle changes to avoid potential triggers. For example, if a person experiences a panic attack every time they ride in an elevator, they may start avoiding elevators and take the stairs instead.

Some panic attacks can cause a person to be housebound and withdrawn from everyday life. This is why if any anxiety attack becomes too severe, its essential to seek help right away.

Diagnosis Of Chest Pain

Before medical treatment can begin, the cause of the pain must be found. You may a have a lot of tests done including:

  • Electrocardiogram electrical tracing of the heart activity.
  • Blood tests to measure markers from the heart and other organs.
  • Chest x-ray to look at the lungs, heart and major blood vessels of the chest.

If your healthcare professional thinks you may have angina, they may order further tests to check the state of the blood vessels that supply your heart. They may also arrange an exercise stress test or other tests such as an angiogram or CT scan;of your chest.

It is not always easy to diagnose the cause of chest pain. Your doctor may need to see you more than once to be sure, and further tests may be needed, or you may be referred to a cardiologist .;

Other Causes Of Chest Discomfort Or Pain

Most people fear that chest pain always means that something is wrong with the heart. This is not the case. Chest discomfort or pain, especially in people who are younger than age 40, can have many causes.

Other, more serious problems that can cause chest pain include:

  • An infection, such as pneumonia.
  • A collapsed lung , which usually causes a sharp, stabbing chest pain and occurs with shortness of breath.
  • A blood clot in the lung , which usually causes deep chest pain with the rapid development of extreme shortness of breath.
  • Lung cancer, which may cause chest pain, especially if the cancer cells spread to involve the ribs.
  • Diseases of the spine, which can cause chest pain if the nerves in the spine are “pinched.”

Check your symptoms to decide if and when you should see a doctor.

Ways To Recognize Anxiety Chest Pain

This chest pain is due to somatization of anxiety and usually manifests during a panic or stressful situation. People who experience it often describe it as a throbbing pain that spreads throughout the torso.

It is a pain that can last for several minutes but does not continue beyond it. And appears from the beginning of the state of anxiety to its end, where it decreases. It does not increase or stop if we do different exercises, efforts or physical techniques.

Many tend to confuse this difficulty with a cardiovascular problem. But you can differentiate it because the latter is characterized by pains in a certain point of the chest and arm, while, due to anxiety, it spreads throughout the torso and no specific area is identified.

Chest pain can be a warning sign of a heart attack. A heart attack happens when the blood supply to your heart becomes blocked and damages the heart muscle.;

The longer a heart attack is left untreated more damage occurs. In some cases, a heart attack can be fatal. Many Australians die of heart attack, or suffer permanent damage to the heart because they dont know the signs or wait too long to act.

Symptoms of a heart attack may include:

  • Severe crushing pain in the centre of your chest or behind the breastbone. You may feel this as a squeezing, tightening, choking or heavy pressure feeling.
  • Pain spreading to the shoulders, arms, neck, throat, jaw or back.
  • Sweating.
  • Feeling anxious, dizzy or unwell.
  • A sick feeling in the stomach.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Symptoms that often last 10 to 15 minutes or more.

Symptoms of a heart attack may vary from person to person, and some people have few symptoms or none at all.

Natural Treatment For Chest Pain

Some underlying causes of chest pain will require medical attention and even surgery. There are also natural treatments that can reduce the risk of chest pain and help relieve symptoms. If you are at risk for heart conditions, these natural ingredients can help protect your heart.

Chromium: Chest pain is a symptom of a heart attack. Conditions such as atherosclerosis and high blood pressure increase the risk of a heart attack. Both high blood pressure and high cholesterol can be naturally treated with chromium.Niacin: Also known as vitamin B3, niacin is essential for heart health. Niacin works to naturally lower cholesterol levels, reduce blood pressure, and stabilize blood glucose levels. High blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood glucose all increase the risk for heart disease, of which chest pain is a major symptom.;Capsicum extract: This fruit extract is proven to enhance circulation and improve the health of blood vessels. Elevated blood pressure causes chest pain and can be a sign of unhealthy blood vessel circulation. By promoting blood vessel health, capsicum extract ensures that the heart tissues get the nutrients they need, which reduces your risk of heart disease.;Red Yeast Rice: The key compound in red yeast rice, monacolin K, is the same ingredient found in cholesterol-lowering medications. Red yeast rice is a natural and more cost-effective way to treat high cholesterol and prevent heart disease.

If you visit a hospital emergency room and the doctors dont find a specific cause for your chest pain, consider consulting with your doctor about other possible causes, including anxiety.

Sharp Shooting Shock Pain In Left Side Of Chestanxiety

How To Heal Chest Pain Anxiety
saraanne8

I have posted in here before and everyone is so helpful and awesome so here it goes.

I have been getting on and off sharp, shooting, shock like chest pains in the left side right near my left breast. The sharp pain will come for a second and be annoying and painful and then itll disappear. Its on and off. It started earlier when I was at the physical therapist, and I did feel myself getting anxious and nervous when it happened. It went away while I was there and when I got homethen I ate and it started up again.

I am dealing with a thoracic disc herniation thats pushing against my spinal cord, which I would assume will cause certain shock-like feelings in certain places of the body. But I have to say, feeling this is making me INCREDIBLY nervous. I keep thinking I am going to die of a heart attack. Has anyone felt these types of sharp pains from anxiety? I do not know how to tell the difference between anxiety and an actual heart problem.

I dont have any other symptoms, some sensations in my leg and also my right shoulder but it came and went. My heart seems to be beating fine and I can breathe. The chest pains just really bothered me. Its a pretty terrifying feeling if anyone has ever felt this before also!

Chest Pain And Heart Attack

Chest discomfort or pain may be a key warning symptom of a heart attack. Heart attack symptoms may include:

  • Chest pain or pressure, or a strange feeling in the chest.
  • Sweating.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Nausea or vomiting.
  • Pain, pressure, or a strange feeling in the back, neck, jaw, or upper belly, or in one or both shoulders or arms.
  • Light-headedness or sudden weakness.
  • A fast or irregular heartbeat.

Chest discomfort or pain that comes on or gets worse with exercise, stress, or eating a large meal and goes away with rest may also be a symptom of heart disease called angina.

If you have any of these symptoms of a heart attack, 911 or other emergency services immediately. After you call 911, the operator may tell you to chew 1 adult-strength or 2 to 4 low-dose aspirin. Wait for an ambulance. Do not try to drive yourself. Since most of the damage to the heart muscle during a heart attack occurs in the first 6 hours, emergency treatment may prevent damage to the heart muscle and death. For men and women, the most common symptom is chest pain or pressure. Women are somewhat more likely than men to have other symptoms like shortness of breath, nausea, and back or jaw pain.

What Causes Anxiety Chest Pain

When youre anxious, your body can and often does produce physical reactions like sweating or shortness of breath.

When you become anxious, your brain and body set off an immediate stress response. This includes a physiological change. Your body may tighten up or grow tense.

A stress response can also include a psychological or emotional response. You may become aggressive or upset more easily. These responses are referred to as the fight-or-flight response. When you become stressed or anxious, your body prepares to fight back or run away.

If you experience this fight-or-flight stress reaction infrequently, your body should fully recover within 30 minutes. But if you experience it frequently, your body cant recover as quickly. This can lead to increased muscle tension, and this tension may become painful in your chest.

Likewise, in an even more stressful moment, your heart rate may increase, and the force of your heartbeats can grow stronger. That combined with tight chest muscles can make you feel unusual pain.

If you feel anxious, there are some simple techniques you can try. These techniques may not work every time, but theyre a great starting point when you need help managing your anxiety.
