Why Is Stress Bad
The human body is technically designed to deal with specific amounts and types of stress since it has an autonomic nervous system thats able to respond to stress. The autonomic nervous system thats in our bodies contains built-in stress responses that cause physiological changes to your body, which allows your body to combat any type of stressful situation that you may be experiencing.
But this stress response can become chronically activated when it has been fired for long periods, which causes your body to experience damage both physically and mentally. Essentially, when you put your body under too much stress for too long, your stress response system malfunctions and is unable to react appropriately to stressful situations when its most required.
When you put your body under too much stress for too long, your stress response system malfunctions
When you experience too much stress and dont treat it properly, then a less severe form of stress can lead to distress, which is classified as an extremely adverse stress reaction. Distress is capable of disturbing your bodys internal balance, which then leads to symptoms that negatively affect your body. For instance, physical signs of distress may include headaches, an upset stomach, high blood pressure, chest pain, and even problems sleeping.
You Rarely Take Lunch Breaks Or Coffee Breaks Even A Bathroom Break Is A Luxury
As a human being, you need decent food, sleep, exercise, and social time. Too bad your work self didnt get the memo. If you feel so pressured at work that even your most basic needs have fallen to the wayside, youre overly stressed, notes Stevan E. Hobfoll, Ph.D., chairperson of Behavioral Sciences at Rush University Medical Center. Luckily, science has the answers: Research shows that working out mid-day listening to music and just taking deep breaths can help reduce the production of cortisol.

How To Reduce The Stress Of Being A Parent
This, then, becomes a key insight: In order to respond effectively to life stressors, we must realize we have at least some controlif nothing else, over our attitudes. What exactly do individuals do who respond more effectively to stressful circumstances?
A few weeks before, I was teaching my undergraduate students about stress and coping, and I made a classic distinction often made among stress scientists that has guided a good deal of research. There are two general ways of coping with stress. First, problem-focused coping involves addressing the underlying causes of a stressor. Second, emotion-focused coping involves addressing the difficult emotions that result.
Realizing this, I took out a piece of paper. Physician, heal thyself, I thought.
