What The Bible Says About Stress And Anxiety

You Say God Is With Me Why Don’t I Feel Him

What Does The Bible Say About…Fear, Anxiety, and Worry? – Ep. 3: WTBS | Impact Video Ministries

Second, this is where faith comes in: Faith is not based on feelings. Our faith is based on the fact that God came to earth in Jesus, died for our sins, rose from the dead and even today reigns as Lord over all. Nothing can change that truth. Not feelings, not a bad day, not an argument with a friend. Nothing.

It is O.K. to feel things. God created us in His image and as emotional beings. We can be honest with God about how we feel. However, dont let what you are feeling keep you from believing the truth of Gods word. Remember, as strong and as fluctuating as your feelings may be, Gods Word is truer than anything you feel and truer than anything you experience. The Bible has withstood the test of time and never changes . Beyond the verses on this page, here are more truths you can hold onto when times are tough: Loving God in Painful Times

Learning From The Bible About Anxiety

What the bible says about anxiety is that ultimately the more you listen to God, and the more of your heart you give to Him, the less anxiety you will have. Anxiety is about worries, concerns, fears, and the feeling as though you are not adequate to the task of coping with the world around you. Belief in God, according to the bible, is about complete trust and faith – immersing yourself in God’s love and dedicating yourself to Him is the path to a content and fear free life. Ultimately, having faith in God is one way of having faith in yourself. If you have faith in yourself and God, you can have faith that you will have the ability to deal successfully with any and everything that happens in your life.

The Bible Says Nothing About Depression And Anxiety

In one sense, scripture says nothing about mental illness. At this point, some of you are punching your fist in the air and saying, Yes, I knew it! All those therapeutic namby-pambies are believing a lie!

Not so fast.

The Bible doesnt say anything about mental illness in the same way it doesnt say anything about the Trinity. In other words, youre not going to find the words depression, anxiety, bipolar, or anything else.

But just because those specific terms arent in scripture doesnt mean that scripture is silent on the issue.

In fact, mental illness is everywhere in the Bible.

Where Are The Chakras In The Body

Before I take a deep dive into how the Bible references the chakras, I will talk about where exactly these energy centers are located in the body in the astral body, that is.

Chakras are thought to be whirling discs found along the spine, starting at the base and running upward to the crown of the head.

Each chakra is known to radiate its own color, corresponding to these specific endocrine glands in the physical body:

  • Crown chakra : Pituitary gland
  • Third eye chakra : Pineal gland
  • Throat chakra : Thyroid gland
  • Heart chakra : Thymus gland
  • Solar plexus chakra : Pancreas
  • Sacral chakra : Ovaries/testes
  • Root chakra : Adrenal gland

These seven main glands match with the seven chakra points. Its hard not to see the parallelism, especially when I think about how the chakras function to balance the energy flow in each of these major glands.

It is believed that when any of the chakras are blocked, the energy cannot flow freely. This negatively impacts an individuals health and well-being.

The main principle behind the chakra points is for energy that radiates from the base of the body to course smoothly through the spine until it reaches the top of the head.

Once this energy reaches the crown, it is thought to burst forth and wrap the entire astral body in nothing but pure love and light.

What Is The Primary Cause Of Depression

Worry Stress & Anxiety... What the Bible says about it

Theres no single cause of depression. It can occur for a variety of reasons and it has many different triggers. For some people, an upsetting or stressful life event, such as bereavement, divorce, illness, redundancy and job or money worries, can be the cause. Different causes can often combine to trigger depression.

Help For Christian Burnout

Feelings of worry and stress are common for everyone. However, it can be tough for Christians if we think it is unspiritual or it may ruin our witness. Christians have a tendency to ignore our anxiety instead of facing it with Gods help.

Pastor burnout statistics show that 90% of pastors are frequently fatigued or worn out on a weekly or even a daily basis and 71% constantly fight depression . Pastor depression and burnout is indicative of a greater Christian problem, because if our spiritual leaders dont know how to find peace, what hope do we have?

I have created a book and online course to help caregivers maintain their motivation in giving to others. This material will be an excellent help for pastors and other Christians, who are often giving of themselves for the sake of others. The study will look into the lives of Abraham, David, Paul, Elijah, and many of Bible stories to find help to overcome anxiety and stress. The study is called, The Academy of Powerful Caregivers.

What Can We Learn About Anxiety From The Bible

Anxiety is typically an emotion that arises because we are thinking about the future. Of course, we may be anxious about something in the past, but it is likely because we’re thinking about how the situation or decision is going to turn out in the future. Verse 34 tells us that we don’t need to be anxious about the future because today has enough going on. We also shouldn’t bring the anxiety of tomorrow into today. Tomorrow will take care of itself because He is taking care of us. What a gift it is to know that He is our provider. The next time you’re feeling anxious, remember what Jesus said. He cares so much for you, and He will provide.

The Greatest Power In The Universe

The truth of the matter is that you have the greatest power in the universe on your side. You have the Almighty God, the Creator of the ends of the earth holding you in the palm of His hand! The truth is that when you believe that, there is not ever anything to worry about. He will uphold you and cause everything that happens to you to turn out for your best. These Bible verses show that.

  • The Lord is your keeper the Lord is your shade at your right hand. Psalm 121:5.
  • The Lord is on my side I will not fear. Psalm 118:6.
  • Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for You are with me Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4.
  • Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9.
  • Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Fathers will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore you are of more value than many sparrows. Matthew 10:29-31.
  • Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! Psalm 139:16-17.
  • It can be hard to believe that, because you dont see Him and His strength as a physical substance. But:

    God Cares About Our Anxieties

What Does the Bible Say About Anxiety? | Wheaton Bible Church

But God is far from condemning us, frail humans. The Apostle Peter writes, Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you . The word, care comes from the Greek and means: to throw up or to place upon. It indicates that the person who is hauling around a burden needs to actively take that burden and relocate it.

In our family, we had a son who was far away from the Lord and made some unwise life choices. His father and I continually prayed for him. But it wasnt until my husband figuratively placed my son on the Potters wheel that we were free from worry.

The Bible spells out clearly the antidote for worrying. Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God . God commands us not to agonize over problems. Instead, we are to rush our troubles, stresses, and concerns to His immediate attention as Hes always available. And as we ask God for solutions, we do so in a grateful manner, showing we trust that He really will answer our prayers. Thats called faith. So simple, yet so difficult for us who want and choose to stew over problems. We worriers assume we have more power and control than we do. But true freedom from worry comes from releasing them to God.

It Takes A Battle To Come To Rest

There can be so many reasons to be tempted to be anxious. Money, family, school, political situations, relationships, illness, the unknown, and probably many that you have experienced that we havent listed here. And some situations can certainly be very dire, from a human perspective. But no matter how hopeless the situation looks, if you put your trust in the Lord, and let your requests be made known to Him this is very important, cry out to Him, pour out your heart to Him, give your fears to Him you can come to rest. Even though you have to battle for it.

  • Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthymeditate on these things. Philippians 4:6-8.
  • casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7.
  • But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31.
  • You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3.
  • Overcoming Worry & Stress: What The Bible Says About Stress

In todays world it is virtually impossible to avoid stress. Almost everyone is carrying some amount of it, in varying degrees. Many find it increasingly difficult to simply survive in the world we live in. In desperation, people are seeking relief for their problems through any remedy they can find. Our culture is inundated with self-help books, therapists, time-management workshops, massage parlors, and recovery programs . Everyone talks about returning to a simpler way of life, but no one seems to even know exactly what that means, or how to attain it. Many of us cry out like Job: The churning inside me never stops days of suffering confront me. .

Most of us are so used to carrying the burden of stress, we can scarcely imagine our lives without it. We think it is simply an unavoidable part of living in the world. We carry it like a hiker trudging out of the Grand Canyon with a huge pack on his back. The pack seems to be a part of his own weight, and he cant even remember what it was ever like to not be carrying it. It seems that his legs have always been that heavy and his back has always ached under all that weight. Only when he stops to rest for a moment and takes off his pack does he realize just how heavy it really is, and how light and free he is without it.

Where Is Anxiety Mentioned In The Bible

However, the words anxiety and anxious are mentioned a total of 31 times in the Bible. It appears five times in the sixth chapter of Matthew in the span of nine verses. Letâs look at this passage and see what comfort we can gain from it when we are feeling anxious. Jesus speaking to his followers:

âTherefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, âWhat shall we eat?â or âWhat shall we drink?â or âWhat shall we wear?âFor the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
