Give Your Anxiety To Jesus
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 NIV
The Greek word translated cast is very descriptive. Its the same word used to describe how the disciples threw their garments over the donkey Jesus would ride into Jerusalem. Do that with your anxiety today. If necessary, write your worries on a piece of paper, and then throw them into a river or leave them at the altar at your church. Such a physical act symbolizes casting all your worries onto Jesus, and leaving them there.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what Gods will ishis good, pleasing and perfect will.
The world is full of fear. Some fears are even unexplainable. Paul implores us to be unlike the world. If the world is full of fear, let us strive to be full of courage. We will not be alone because we have God and our fellow believers. Let us triumph over our fears and help others do it as well.

What Does The Bible Say About Anxiety Specifically
Although some people experienced anxiety in the Bible, Christians should know what Scripture says about anxiety in general. Christians can quote the verse from Philippians to reassure each other about Gods control, but what else does the Bible have to say?
First, one can take a look at some of the examples above to see how those people confronted their anxiety.
For instance, whenever David cried out to God in anguish, at the end of the Psalm he acknowledges Gods power and plan . This might indicate Christians should place their trust in God, even when anxious thoughts and worries can cause them to feel the opposite way.
In addition to how biblical examples deal with anxious thoughts, Christians can look to the following verses for guidance when it comes to anxiety:
As for Christians who do not currently deal with anxiety, what should they do? Scripture encourages us to bear one anothers burdens . When a fellow brother or sister struggles with fears of what the future may hold, Christians should walk alongside them and provide comfort and peace during volatile moments in life.
Bible Verses For Perspective In Stressful Times
Luke 12:25-26 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?
Stress-induced worry doesnt do anything to help your life. Remember whos really in control.
James 1:2-4 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Early Christians realized that trials and challenges were a cause for joy, because they are building something more enduring and strong within us, forging a faith that will last. Could you dare to see your cause for stress as a cause for worship? For Christ is with you in it, making your faith and trust in him complete.
Romans 8:6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
The world might tell you that all you need is a new and positive mindset. While positivity tips and tricks might be helpful for a moment, they dont build a deep foundation of the true life and peace found in God. Allow His Spirit to govern your mind, and notice how he leads you to something eternal, not fading or contrived.
Luke 21:34 Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap.

Going through life, every day seems to have new trouble but Jesus tells us not to worry or stress about it. We do live in a fallen world with many troubles but what we need to do is try and recognize the lesson in each struggle.
We need to see it and learn from its truth and move on. Because the next time we are faced with the trial, we are stronger and wiser than we were before.

Principle #: My Anxiety Is Related To My Trust Level In God
After Jesus gave the Sermon on the Mount, the disciples and Jesus embarked on a ministry trip so that Jesus could teach His disciples and model for them the way of life that He was describing in the Sermon on the Mount. Matthew records these stories one after another to make the case that Jesus alone has the power to intervene. He was unlike the other religious leaders of His day. At the end of the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 7, Matthew adds that the crowds were astonished at His teaching, for He was teaching them as one who had authority, not as their scribes. He has real power to intervene in our troubles and Matthew wanted to make sure you understood the reason why Jesus could stand up and say dont be anxious. It wasnt just a slogan to make us feel better or distract us from our troubles. Jesus really was different. Peoples lives were really changed when they encountered Him.
The chart below from Matthew 89 represents the various conversations and encounters that Jesus faced on this trip. As you look at the conversations, you see His response to ordinary people with deep troubles and sorrows. As a counselor, if I were to make a list of the most common worries that walk into my office on any given week, this list could have been written yesterday.

Stop Pretending Youre Happy When Youre Not
Quartz writer Susanna Cornelius, in her article Being told to feel happy is making us miserable details the destructive effects of trying to abide by the social pressures that make us feel like we need to feel happy, all the time:
Depression rates are higher in countries that place a premium on happiness, says social psychologist Brock Bastian. Rather than being the by-product of a life well-lived, feeling happy has become a goal in itself.
Smiling faces beam at us from social media and happiness gurus flog their latest emotional quick fixes, reinforcing the message that we should aim to maximize our positive emotions and avoid our negative ones.
Susanna Cornelius, Quartz
Happiness as a goal is a fallacy, and is at odds with how the Bible describes the path to calmness and joy. Instead of forcing ourselves to smile, God wants us to be honest with everything going on inside of us the good, bad and the ugly.
Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! 2Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty!
Psalm 32:1-2
It may feel counterintuitive to us who live in this culture of consumption, but taking the time to identify our sins so we can experience mercy from God is the only true way to lasting happiness. Guilt is an incredible amplifier of anxiety clearing it up will pave the way to joy and de-stressing.

Soothing Bible Verses About Stress And Anxiety
Bible verses about stress remind us that we can cling to God by allowing the Word of God to speak truth into our life.
Stress and anxiety seem to be more and more common these days, especially after the pandemic started. Fear and worry were rampant everywhere. The good news is that we have a lot of Bible verses about the stress that can help us overcome these negative feelings.
What God Says About The Causes Of Anxiety
The bible does not state what causes anxiety, because God considers anxiety to be a crisis of faith. The belief here is that anxiety shows that the person has not yet been able to put full trust in God, because fear itself is something that is meant to be relinquished as every person is meant to be part of God’s plan. As it is said in Matthew 6:27:
“And which of you by being anxious can add a single cubit to his life’s span?
In other words, what does being anxious do that helps you? This is a question not just of religion, but also about anxiety itself. There are those that struggle with anxiety and panic attacks every day, worrying that they may be suffering from a dangerous disease or at risk for many dangers. But what does worrying about the disease do to cure it? What does thinking that you may be at risk for danger do to improve your life?
The answer is that worrying about anxiety does nothing to improve one’s lifespan, both in longevity and in quality. It’s simply the result of uncertainty, and the bible teaches the idea that uncertainty is, essentially, distrust with the plan of God. It’s not that anxiety is a sin, but that anxiety is the act of experiencing fears and worries that one wouldn’t experience if they truly follow and show commitment to God.
