Sad Things To Draw When You Miss Someone
When we miss someone, we feel an emptiness in our chest, and our mind seems to think of nothing but the person we are missing.
We start to think I am so lonely. Things around us remind us of this person, it is difficult for us to focus on the things we have to do and time seems to pass very hard.
In the three images below you can see examples of sad things to draw when you miss someone.
You will see that the three authors represented this state through a reflective body position, a lost, thoughtful and sad look
You dont have to have perfect drawing skills to draw what you feel when you miss someone.
How will this exercise help you? Simple, it will make you feel more liberated and help you understand your feelings for the person you miss.
As you draw, allow yourself to reflect on how you are feeling, and focus on when you will be able to see that person again.
And if this is not possible, then you can use this opportunity to say goodbye.
First Dont Feel Bad About Feeling Sad
When something negative happens in your life, it can seem like your world is ending. But instead of suppressing or dismissing your emotionseither by distracting yourself or keeping up a good frontyou should actually embrace them. All emotions are important to experience and have valuable information for us about our lives, says Dr. Lori Rockmore, Psy.D. In fact, a 2017 study published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology concluded individuals who accept rather than judge their mental experiences may attain better psychological health, in part because acceptance helps them experience less negative emotion in response to stressors.
Instead of beating yourself up for feeling down, try to consider this as an opportunity to learn, grow, and find true healing, says Briana Borten, CEO of the wellness organization Dragontree.
Reduce Your Usual Workload
When youre struggling with your mood and high stress levels, attempting to work at 100% of your usual output is ill-advised. However, not working at all typically isnt helpful either. Why?
Regular work helps provide structure to your day. When you have the structure of regular activities, this helps regulate your biological rhythms, such as those related to eating and sleeping. Without the structure of regular activities, including work and socializing, those biological rhythms will become more dysregulated, which will tend to make depression worse.
Fifty percent of your usual activity is a good sweet spot between not working enough and expecting too much of yourself. You may even find that your productivity doesnt decrease that much with this approach. It will force you to prioritize deep work and other truly important tasks. Limiting yourself to 50% of your usual work will help you let go of activities that were only medium-productive to begin with. Fifty percent isnt a hard and fast rule. You can choose a different number if youd prefer, but adopt the principle.

Get Hold Of Your Emotions By Focusing On The Present

Properly focusing on the moment you are in can be accomplished in many different ways. Theres meditation, breathing techniques, focusing on sights, sounds, or other sensations. Whatever works best for you is what will help you to get out of your head. Pull back from whats bothering you, and focus your mind on the present.
My mindfulness trick is relatively simpleI can concentrate better when things smell good, so whenever I start to feel like things are getting out of control, I stop and put some lotion on. Its good for my skin and the scent and action itself brings me back to what Im doing at the present.
Meditation is a common way to address mindfulness as well. You can visit a temple for a quick yoga session with complete strangers or travel to Akita for a Buddhist meditation weekend retreat. Of course, you can also practice it on your own at home. The point is to change your environment for a moment and give it a genuine, honest tryin this way youll give yourself reasons to look at things from a better angle.

Express Acts Of Kindness And Be Of Service To Others
This might seem odd on the list but hear me out. You might be thinking how can I be of service when Im struggling with my emotions here?. What Ive learnt, and even studies have proven this, is that being kind has several positive effects on not just the receiver but also on you, the giver. The Random Acts of Kindness site highlights various points, research works and pieces that reveal the science of kindness. Some of the highlights conclude that kindness:
-
boosts happiness levels due to the brains pleasure and reward system lighting up,
-
fuels the production of oxytocin, known as the love hormone, and
-
initiates the production of serotonin, a feel-good chemical.
All of these have significant effects on our outlook on life and also our feelings of happiness and satisfaction.
Beyond these scientific highlights, I also believe that a major purpose of our being here, on earth, is to be of service. Acts of kindness also bring us closer to people and helps us see beyond our personal, physical selves.
Sleeping On Your Belly
Do you like to sleep on your tummy, but experience problems oftentimes? The position might not help you. If you experience insomnia, chances are that youre not comfortable sleeping in this position. It can tense your neck and your lower back. But if this is how you like to sleep, you might consider using a very soft cooling pillow to keep your neck comfortable.

Allow Yourself Time To Cry
As contradictory as it sounds, crying can indeed help you to feel much better. Instead of repressing your feelings, find some time to let it all out. By allowing yourself to feel the pain, you will heal much faster than hiding from it could ever accomplish. In many cases, crying can miraculously wash away feelings of sadness. It will improve your mood and you will feel much better in no time. Unfortunately, we make little use of it. Instead, we try to suppress our feelings, thinking that crying will make things even worse. But this really isnt the case. You will feel much more relieved after shedding some tears.
The beneficial impact of crying on your mood is scientifically backed. Scientists found that crying makes you feel better when youre sad. Not only will it help you to feel much better afterwards, but it also rids your body of stress hormones. So allow yourself to experience sadness, have a good cry and move on with your life.
When To Seek Professional Help
Any level of depression should be taken seriously and the faster you address the symptoms, the less likely you are to develop a more severe type of depression. Seeking professional help is a sign of bravery and self-respect because it shows that you are dedicated to caring for your mind and body. A therapist can offer more clinical advice and guide you through treatment with approaches that are more tailored to your specific situation and needs. However, if you are experiencing suicidal thoughts, tell someone you trust and seek assistance immediately.

Smile Even If You Dont Feel Like It

Understandably, faking a smile when youre feeling miserable is the last thing you want to do. But as ludicrous as it sounds, scientists found that smiling can make you happy. In this type of scenario, smiling is not the result of feeling happy. Instead, smiling is the cause for a persons happiness. The mechanism responsible for this was coined as the facial feedback hypothesis when it was first discovered. Back then it was still a hypothesis, but scientific research established it as a sound theory.
The reason why smiling can affect your mood lies in the neurological feedback your brain receives from your facial muscles. When you smile, your facial muscles assume a position that your brain associates with feelings of happiness and joy. For this reason, smiling will send precisely those signals to your brain, even if youre not feeling happy.
In conclusion
The techniques presented above can help you to maneuver yourself through difficult times. In themselves, none of these will completely eliminate sadness from your life. But they give you actionable strategies to root out the sources in your life that contribute greatly to feelings of sadness. However, keep in mind that these techniques wont stop negative things from happening. Its therefore all the more important to develop a healthy attitude to negative events in our lives. Use these experiences as opportunities for growth and you will thrive in life.

If you are feeling overwhelmed by stress, you are not alone it’s practically a fact of life on college campuses. A poll conducted by mtvU and the Associated Press in the spring of 2009 reported that 85% of students say they experience stress on a daily basis.
Stress is good if it motivates you but it’s bad if it wears you down. Many factors can contribute to the stress you experience, and this stress can cause changes in your body that affect your overall physical, mental, and emotional health.
Depression is more serious and long-lasting than stress, and requires a different kind of help. In a 2010 survey by the American College Health Association, 28% of college students reported feeling so depressed at some point they had trouble functioning, and 8% sought treatment for depression.
The good news is that depression is a highly treatable condition. However, it’s not something you can snap out of by yourself, so it’s important to get help. How do you tell the difference between stress and depression? Both can affect you in similar ways, but there are key differences. Symptoms of depression can be much more intense. They last at least two weeks. Depression causes powerful mood changes, such as painful sadness and despair. You may feel exhausted and unable to act.
