Youre Too Busy To Cope
Overscheduling yourself with activities and tasks has become commonplace as of late. Almost everyone you talk to shares this notion of being busy. Its slowly becoming a characteristic of modern culture.
However, staying busy is also a coping mechanism for many people, and they are generally unaware of how they are using it. If you use your business as a coping mechanism, you are avoiding many underlying causes and triggers for your stress. By masking them with busyness, you will always feel as though you are stressed for no reason.
If you find it hard to slow down, are overly social, have a cluttered calendar, and people are often pointing out how busy you are, you may be making yourself busy to avoid underlying emotional stressors. From: goodtherapy.org
Chronic busyness also leaves you with little to no downtime. Your mind and body require recharging, just like any battery does. Being always on the go increases the levels of stress hormones in your body. It is essential to make time for yourself to be present with the people and things around you.
Mindfulness and being present daily will lead to feeling more grounded and involved in your life and can be beneficial to stress reduction.
Common Causes Of Stress
These are the top five causes of stress, according to a poll of more than 3,000 U.S. adults by the American Psychological Association :
- Money. 72% of people report being stressed about money. Financial stress can look different for everyone. A college-aged adult may not have to worry about affording children, but the costs of tuition and housing may give them anxiety. Even someone who is gainfully employed may fear losing their retirement savings or their job. Medical expenses are also a burden.
- Job pressure. The top sources of job stress are conflicts with coworkers, work overload and bosses. Its also common to worry about whether youre doing a satisfactory job, and other internal stressors can include fear of failure or perfectionism.
- Health. A health scare or a chronic or terminal illness diagnosis is a major stressor, especially if it comes with debilitating symptoms and side effects. These issues can also add strain to the other top stressors.
- Relationships. The only way around relationship conflict is to not have relationships . Conflicts like divorce, death or even arguments with friends can negatively impact well-being.
You’re Trying To Run On An Empty Tank
I can relate to this one all too much.
Have you ever tried driving your car on an empty tank? Of course not, right?
So why do we do that to ourselves?
Y’know what I’m talking about. Pulling a few all nighters here and there to get a project done, not taking any days off, constantly being plugged in and thinking about work.
Just a friendly reminder : You’re not a robot or a machine. You’re not suppose to run on autopilot and be productive all the time.
So give yourself a break.
Take a few days off every time you finish a big project. Get your 8 hours of sleep. Unplug from your phone and laptop you do not need to be constantly plugged in. Journal and let your imagination roam free. Eat a snack. Refuel your tank.

Youre Expecting Yourself To Be Perfect
Perfectionism will cause you to think that nothing you do will ever be good enough, which obviously leads to overwhelm – because you’re constantly trying to be more, do more, have more, etc.
It’s a pretty vicious cycle.
One thing to remember is that perfectionism does not exist, and people don’t expect you to be perfect. And if there are people who do expect you to be perfect? Remember that they aren’t perfect themselves.
Let perfectionism go. Check out this post on letting go of being good so you can be free.
I’ve never actively called myself a perfectionist, but I definitely acted like one. Once I started letting go of the idea of “needing to have it all together”, I was able to get a lot more done. Like, a lot more and feel less anxiety as a result.
You Dont Trust Others

You think people are jerks, youre afraid theyll take advantage if you open up.You watch your back and always stay guarded, no way to fully relax if youre not sure whos in front of you.
Solution: try PRONOIA for a change, do it as a game, just switch beliefs from constant suspicion to unconditional trust. Do it for an hour, just to give it a try, its a bit disturbing but itll expose a lot of the false beliefs you can get rid of.Also, dont forget that people are too busy minding their own problems to try to hurt you, generally.

You Have No Means To Channel Anxious Energy
Pre-lockdown, your partner wasnt with you all hours of the day. They didnt witness your anxious quirks under such an intense microscope. To them, your behavior is something brand new. For you, its ingrained in the very fiber of your being.
When you went to work and hung out in groups, you were able to channel some of that anxiety in different ways. You vibed and chatted with other individuals, made physical contact with family members, and used your creativity to create work.
Now, you are in a confined area with less avenues to channel and diffuse your anxiety. Naturally, your anxious behavior is going to disrupt the peace at home. Now, your partner is seeing a physical representation of what your mind deals with on a daily basis!

A few quick tips:
Stressed Or Depressed Know The Difference
If you are feeling overwhelmed by stress, you are not alone it’s practically a fact of life on college campuses. A poll conducted by mtvU and the Associated Press in the spring of 2009 reported that 85% of students say they experience stress on a daily basis.
Stress is good if it motivates you but it’s bad if it wears you down. Many factors can contribute to the stress you experience, and this stress can cause changes in your body that affect your overall physical, mental, and emotional health.
Depression is more serious and long-lasting than stress, and requires a different kind of help. In a 2010 survey by the American College Health Association, 28% of college students reported feeling so depressed at some point they had trouble functioning, and 8% sought treatment for depression.
The good news is that depression is a highly treatable condition. However, it’s not something you can snap out of by yourself, so it’s important to get help. How do you tell the difference between stress and depression? Both can affect you in similar ways, but there are key differences. Symptoms of depression can be much more intense. They last at least two weeks. Depression causes powerful mood changes, such as painful sadness and despair. You may feel exhausted and unable to act.

Preventing The Crying Feeling
Remember, you shouldnt stop yourself from crying. Cry as much as you need to so that you can let out the feeling of needing to cry. Crying itself is healthy when overwhelmed, so is more important to reduce anxiety than it is to find ways to stop crying.
Ways To Get Rid Of Stress

Why Am I So Stressed?
This is the question that I ask myself every day. Because no matter how much I try or how much I wish to change it, I still get stressed when the time comes. And the time comes much more often than Id like to.
Im no doctor, I have no medical education and I wont pretend that Ive done a lot of research on it. What youll read now is not the thoughts of a scientist who has spent her whole life trying to find a cure for stress. These are just my thoughts. The thoughts of a blogger who has dealt with more stress than she could handle sometimes.

Getting Help For Depression
If you think you might be depressed, take a depression screening. Print out the results or e-mail them to yourself and then show them to a counselor or doctor.
To get help, start with your student health center or counseling service on campus. Most community colleges provide limited free mental health services and can refer you to local providers for longer-term treatment. You can also talk to your family doctor. Your local Mental Health America affiliate can refer or in some cases provide services as well. To find the nearest MHA affiliate, call 800-969-6642 or go to Find An Affiliate.
Remember, depression and other mental health conditions are nothing to be ashamed of. Depression is not a sign of weakness, and seeking help is a sign of strength. Telling someone you are struggling is the first step toward feeling better. You will need the help of a mental health professional to beat depression. Talk therapy, antidepressant medication or a combination can be very effective.
In crisis? If you or someone you know is in crisis now, seek help immediately. Call 1-800-273-TALK to reach a 24-hour crisis center or dial 911 for immediate assistance.
I Realized That I’m Stressed And Anxious 90% Of The Time And I Can’t See How Beautiful Life I Have
I think I need help. I’m really into mindfulness and meditation and when I became more aware of my internal feelings, I realized there is a constant tension inside my body near my stomach and chest. You know that feeling when you have to say something in front of group of people? I feel it almost all the time.
It’s terrible, honestly, especially in a long-term. I have problems with my digestion no matter if I’m eating healthy or not, I can’t see beauty of everyday life and I just can’t relax.
I will explain you what is happening in my head. I have constant feeling that my time on Earth is limited. My main life goals are quite precise:
– I want to find eternal peace
– I want to earn enough money to buy myself freedom
– I want to be totally healthy until the end of my life
– I want to leave a valuable mark in this world
As you can see, I’m quite ambitious person. I spend a lot of time on reading and learning. I learn programming, I learn trading on market, I read about self development, spiritural development, mindfulness, I do bodyweight training etc. Sounds pretty good, isn’t it?
I also worry a lot about my future. I often can’t be present, because I make a lot of calculations and predictions in my head, make future plans and I really like doing it, but I think’s it’s harmful in the long term. My expectations are definitely too high.
