Why Do I Get Stressed So Easily

What To Do When Youre Stressed Meditate Without Stress

How do I stop being angry and stressed? Why do I get angry so easily? Can stress cause anger issues?

Meditation is a fantastic way to control stress. Yet, there are people who even stress out over meditation because they feel like theyre not doing it right. The first step is to relax.

The ability to shut out all thoughts from your mind is EXTREMELY difficult and takes a long time to master.

Most of the advice in meditation books makes it sound easy but its not.

Trying to clear your mind of all thoughts is going to be stressful when you discover that thoughts keep creeping in.

All you need to do is meditative breathing where you focus on your breathing.

Sit in a comfortable position with your neck and back straight. Make sure your head is straight too and youre in comfortable clothing that doesnt feel restrictive.

Close your eyes and breathe slowly and deeply.

I usually count to 8 as I breathe in slowly. Then I count to 8 again as I breathe out slowing. Just focusing on my breathing and my counting works wonders to calm me down.

If there is any tension in your body, you will feel it dissipate away as you exhale slowly.

Your focus is entirely on your breathing. Count each inhalation silently and hear your breaths.

Do this for about 10 to 15 minutes. You will feel much better after that.

You may not have to ask yourself why do I get stressed out so easily?ever again.

Is It Stress Or Anxiety

Life can be stressfulyou may feel stressed about performance at school, traumatic events , or a life change. Everyone feels stress from time to time.

What is stress? Stress is the physical or mental response to an external cause, such as having a lot of homework or having an illness. A stressor may be a one-time or short-term occurrence, or it can happen repeatedly over a long time.

What is anxiety? Anxiety is your body’s reaction to stress and can occur even if there is no current threat.

If that anxiety doesnt go away and begins to interfere with your life, it could affect your health. You could experience problems with sleeping, or with your immune, digestive, cardiovascular, and reproductive systems. You also may be at higher risk for developing a mental illness such as an anxiety disorder or depression. Read more about anxiety disorders.

So, how do you know when to seek help?

Behaving Anxiously Activates The Stress Response And The Stress Response Can Cause A Heightened Sense Of Urgency

This heightened sense of urgency can cause anxious personalities to want to analyze quicker and more effectively. But if others arent living up to your expectations of doing things more quickly and effectively, you might become more easily frustrated with the less effective pace of others. And, as anxiousness and hyperstimulation increase, so can the urge to do things more quickly and effectively, which can cause an increasing sense of frustration.

When you combine this factor with the previous point, many anxious personalities become more easily frustrated as their anxiety and stress elevate.

Different Responses To Stress

The following are different potentially unhelpful responses to stress, but it’s important to note that we can only do the best we can in the situation we are in. There are many reasons why someone might respond to stress in the following ways, and if any of these resonate with you, you should not judge yourself too harshly.

Shutting down or detaching yourself

This can happen emotionally, mentally and physically. Under severe stress, you may find that you emotionally close off, the original stress-induced feelings of anxiety or worry instead replaced with numbness or apathy. You may also find that you have a tendency to detach yourself from people physically, spending less time with your friends or partner. You may also find that you mentally shut down, unable to access the more abstract or creative parts of your thinking. Falling asleep, or suddenly feeling immensely tired, in the face of stress is also a coping mechanism whereby the individual chooses to disengage from what is happening around them, or inside them.

Turning to substances

If we respond to stressful situations by turning to alcohol or drugs, we can become dependent on these substances and our primary response when faced with new stress might be to self-soothe using our chosen vice.

    You Have Unrealistic Expectations

Setting goals and wanting more out of life is not a bad thing. Goal setting and striving for a better life can be great motivators for your personal success.

Sometimes, we are our own worst enemies. When our expectations are unrealistic, we can be left feeling disappointed or experience feelings of failure. We can set ourselves up to stress for no reason.

We set expectations for everything we do, how an interview might go, how you want your home to look, how your body should look. We decide prematurely what the holidays should be like, what you should have done by the afternoon, or how a conversation with your mother might go.

All-day long, we set expectations. And what happens when we hold everything and everyone to an unobtainable standard is that we feel stressed out. Sometimes, without even knowing it.

But high expectations are often a form of trying to

control both outcomes and other people, and can lead to

    considerable stress and mood swings.

If you are experiencing high levels of stress and are trying to figure out why, take a look at the expectations you are creating around the people and tasks in your life. Its vital that you honestly approach the unrealistic expectations you have set in your life.

Why People Get Shitty With Others

Introverts Get Stressed Easily – Overstimulation Leads To Major Stress

There are two main reasons why stress causes us to be grumpy with other people:

    • When youre stressed out or not satisfied with life, but youre not sure why, your mind focuses on all the little things that you usually dont even notice.
    • When theres a lot on your mind, you have less tolerance for other peoples problems or the way they act, and you can be a lot less forgiving.

This is normal, but it can cause a lot of grief when youre being hard on friends, workmates or family for something small and unimportant that youd normally overlook.

For instance, in the middle of 2020 I took several long-haul international flights. My primary emotions were gratitude and excitement to see my children who were living across the world. Yet leading up to each flight, numerous people told me how stressed they were at the very thought of getting on a plane. Much less flying 24 hours. My point: flying in a pandemic is not stressful. Its the assessment people feel about flying in a pandemic that can create stress. So too, having a job that places many demands on you isnt, by default, stressful. Its how you feel about your ability to meet those demands. It explains why what may be terrifying for one is exhilarating for another.

Stress and anxiety are common experiences for most people. In fact, 70% of adults in the United States say they feel stress or anxiety daily.

Exercise is one of the most important things you can do to combat stress.

It might seem contradictory, but putting physical stress on your body through exercise can relieve mental stress.

The benefits are strongest when you exercise regularly. People who exercise regularly are less likely to experience anxiety than those who dont exercise .

There are a few reasons behind this:

    • Stress hormones: Exercise lowers your bodys stress hormones such as cortisol in the long run. It also helps release endorphins, which are chemicals that improve your mood and act as natural painkillers.
    • Sleep: Exercise can also improve your sleep quality, which can be negatively affected by stress and anxiety.
    • Confidence: When you exercise regularly, you may feel more competent and confident in your body, which in turn promotes mental wellbeing.
    • Try to find an exercise routine or activity you enjoy, such as walking, dancing, rock climbing or yoga.

Activities such as walking or jogging that involve repetitive movements of large muscle groups can be particularly stress relieving.

    Some People Create Stress

People do not just respond to their environments, they also change them. Some of that change involves the impact one person has on another. In the late 1950s, two American cardiologists, Friedman and Rosenman, proposed a personality type called Type A. The Type A personality is someone who is high in hostility, competitiveness and time urgency. People with a Type A personality tend to show a greater physiological response to a stressor. The Type A concept is important because a hostile, time-urgent and competitive person is likely to create stress for themselves and for others. So stress produces the kind of interaction that increases stress. The increased stress then produces the type of social interaction that increases stress. Stress easily becomes a vicious cycle where it feeds on itself. This is an edited extract from Michael Hyland’s Stress: All That Matters, follow the link below to purchase:
